We work with Traditional Owner-led and Aboriginal community-controlled organisations to set up strong cultural authority and process, and to build their own revenue and structures, so they are not only sitting under government systems.
Many First Nations organisations carry deep cultural authority and are funded through systems built somewhere else. We help them build the cultural authority processes, governance and business structures that let them set their own direction: how Elders and community guide decisions, how the board and staff work with that authority, and how the organisation generates its own revenue.
This is the room where community input comes back in. Through the right kind of listening, we bring Elders, members and community back to the centre of how the organisation decides and grows. The work draws on our time alongside Traditional Owner organisations, including Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation. In 2026 we have also taken on work with other First Nations organisations building through native title and structural support.
The same three steps we use in every room, applied to cultural authority and the structures around it.
We listen to Elders, members, community, the board and staff: what cultural authority looks like here, and where the organisation wants to stand.
We facilitate the decisions and build the structures: cultural authority processes, governance, and the business and revenue model.
We stay with the organisation as the structures bed in, and return to the questions that keep coming back.
Tell us where your organisation wants to stand. We offer low-bono work. A senior Buneen team member responds within two business days.
