Complex change facilitation

Facilitation for the rooms where trust has broken down.

Buneen Consulting provides independent, culturally authoritative facilitation for contested change: the negotiations, reforms, and decisions where positions are entrenched and trust is thin. It brings structure, neutrality, and the cultural authority to hold the room, grounded in Be BRAVE Feel SAFE.

The work Buneen delivers

What you can engage Buneen to do

  • Independent facilitation of contested change: restructures, mergers, and reform programs
  • Facilitation for rooms where trust has broken down: neutral, culturally authoritative process design
  • Multi-party negotiation and engagement: government, community, and organisational tables
  • Conflict-aware process design: agendas, ground rules, and pacing that let the hard thing be said
  • Leadership alignment: bringing executives to one position they can hold publicly
  • Post-process accountability: decisions written down, owners named, follow-through tracked
What this is

Independent facilitation that holds the hard middle.

Complex change fails most often not for lack of a plan, but because the rooms where it has to be agreed cannot hold the conversation. Buneen facilitates those rooms: multi-party reform, governance transitions, community and stakeholder engagement, and decisions carrying history. The outcome is a process people trust enough to stay in, and decisions they have genuinely shaped rather than been handed.

The firm holds the difficult middle, between doing nothing meaningful and imposing a solution without authority, where real change is actually made. Independence is the point: Buneen has no stake in the outcome except that it is reached honestly and holds.

How we do it

Brave spaces, built in real time.

The facilitation is grounded in Be BRAVE Feel SAFE. Buneen builds the brave space first, the conditions where honest, difficult conversations are welcomed, so that what needs to be said can be said, and safety emerges as the outcome rather than a precondition no one can meet. The practice in the room is Dhungai, a Yugambeh word taught to Shawn Andrews by an uncle: the deep listening that hears the whole room, including who has not spoken and what is not being said.

Tension is expected, not avoided. It is the evidence that something real is being addressed. The facilitator's discipline is to hold that tension and then restore safety deliberately, so the next conversation can happen. The pace is set by the room, not the agenda.

Where it fits

Who it is for.

Complex change facilitation is designed for government, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, Traditional Owner Corporations, and corporate organisations navigating contested reform, partnership, or governance change, especially where First Peoples' interests and authority are central. It is independent facilitation grounded in cultural authority; it is not legal mediation, and it is not a substitute for the parties' own decisions.

Engagements are scoped to brief.

Buneen Consulting can scope independent facilitation to the change, the parties, and the history in the room. Inquiries are responded to by a senior Buneen team member within two business days.
