Buneen is an Aboriginal-owned consultancy, part of the Buneen Group founded by Shawn Andrews, (Mununjali/Migunberri). We help organisations move beyond awareness into measurable cultural safety and systems reform.
Our name comes from the Yugambeh word Buneen (Echidna) — a resilient animal that thrives with the support of its environment. Like the Echidna, we believe organisations thrive when they are held by safe systems, culture, and community.

We do this by:
Strengthening First Peoples organisations so they can lead with confidence, authority, and unity.
Transforming non-First Peoples organisations so they are SAFE places where First Peoples can work, grow, and lead.
We shift the burden away from individuals and onto systems, helping leaders and managers be BRAVE enough to create real change.

Our vision is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples thrive in culturally safe workplaces, strong organisations, and leadership roles that shape the next generation.
Meet Our Founder
Shawn Andrews is a respected consultant, strategist and facilitator with more than 20 years of experience across business, education and leadership. He is the creator of the SAFE Method and BRAVE Framework. Shawn is recognised nationally for his work in systems reform, cultural safety and truth-telling.
